Queenstown and the St. Moritz Hotel, New Zealand

The location and reasons to visit:

Queenstown, New Zealand. Located on the South Island of New Zealand, this, to me, is one of the best-kept secrets on the planet. What a truly wonderful place. It is located on the shores of Lake Waktipu. I visited in the  month of November and there was still snow on the high peaks that can be seen from the lakeside, even though it was 20 degrees Centigrade at lake level. I really think this is a year-round destination, with something for everyone at different times of the year. There are so many activities that can be arranged locally, from a flight on the excellent Air Fiordland plane to visit Milford Sound (and that must be an essential for anyone’s To Do list), or a cable car ride, a steamer boat trip on Lake Waktipu, through to bungee-jumping for the more adventurous. A magically wonderful place, full of friendly people, with good bars and restaurants everywhere.

Review of the St. Moritz Hote, Queenstown, New Zealand:

An absolutely wonderful hotel. The room, the food, the service, the views, were all spectacular. Be sure to book a lake-view room though, if you plan to spend any time in the room at all. I cannot speak too highly of this hotel for so many reasons.

The service in the bar was brilliant, as was the service and the food in the restaurant. I have just returned to the hotel after a gap of over 18 months and, if anything, it is even better. Queenstown, in the South Island of New Zealand, is one of my favourite places in the world, with the St. Moritz Hotel ranking very high on my all-time favourites list of hotels, anywhere. Very, very, highly recommended. Go there, you will not be disappointed.  Apart from everything else, they have possibly the most helpful people on Reception that I have experienced, of all the places I’ve ever visited.
